The 3200 GT is seen by many as the re-awakening of Maserati after two decades of challenges with various owners (i.e. Citroen and Detomaso). The 3200 Giugiaro design led by Fiats was finally launched under full ownership of Ferrari in 1998. The launch was even postponed a year by then Ferrari CEO Luca di Montezemolo, to ensure quality was up to Ferrari standard and customer expectations.

The elegant GT body was completely new designed and applauded by its curves that are repeatedly reiterated in the details like front headlights, radiator grille and the most standing out feature in those days (and still!)  the boomerang headlights. The 3200 also closes the famous biturbo era for Maserati.  What originally started in 1982 with the 2.0 litre V6 engine for the Maserati Biturbo series was by now evolved to a 3.2 litre V8 bi turbo delivering 370bhp with 491Nm torque at 4500 rpm. Hindsight the engine can be seen as very reliable……..if well maintained and driven.

By many Maserati enthusiasts the 3200 is seen as the last true Maserati built with its own DNA although various earlier ownerships. The 3200 was succeeded by the Coupe also called the 4200 which included much more Ferrari specs, with the most impactful change being the 4.2 liter V8 atmospheric engine. But also some of the beautiful design specs disappeared like the boomerang lights and hood air vents.

It must be said that since the 3200, Maserati is fully back on track and has never been so popular by the number of produced and sold cars. However, if you like to own some more exclusive Maserati history, the 3200 is a great car for any collection and has all ingredients and signs to become a true classic .

This Maserati 3200 GT from 2000 is a well maintained example and was sold new in Germany and found its way through Denmark to us. All service of this 71.000 km driven car has been documented and recently in the Netherlands serviced by one of countries leading official Maserati service garages: Franco.

This 3200 with manual transmission comes with full 2021 service including belts.

Exterior

In the colour Nero the unique lines and shapes of 3200 comes across better than in any other colour. Most aggressive, still a gentleman. The paint of this 3200 is generally ok for a car this age. It has been repainted partly due to key scratches and some repairs. All lights, glass with Maserati logo’s around and other details are original and free of damages. All plastics and rubbers clean and undamaged as well. Simply a stunning car with a colour that highlights its shapes very nice.

The standard 18 inch wheels are in good condition with some small spots on the usual places and all around fitted with Bridgestone tires with enough thread.

Interior

The interior is very well maintained. The full leather seats (front & rear) are free from cracks, damages or colour fading which is really rare. Very much desired colour combo of black with grey accents. The leather still has a good matt finish and the pictures actually doesn’t give justice to the real state of the seats.  Alcantara roofline in perfect condition. No sticky buttons or vent holes. Gearbox lever and consule in good shape for its age and mileage. All electrics are working, A/C vents cold air. The interior is what you would expect from a well maintained 70K mileage car which is unfortunately not always the case with 90s era Maserati’s but this example really looks good.

Engine/ transmission

With 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and 1000 meters in 24.2 seconds the 3200 is a true sportscar with the benefits of a GT 2+2. You feel immediately driving this car that all original performance specs can still be achieved.  No wear or tear; this car has been treated with respect and upmost care which now pays off with a technical sophisticated car like the Maserati 3200. The turboboost is still enormous and impressive, oil pressure perfect. Overall a very easy car to drive with the solid working 6 speed manual gearbox. Clutch handles the power perfect. No CEL (Check Engine Lights) lightning up on this 3200. In 2021 the 3200 got fully serviced by us including belts, new intercooler, clutch bearings and many other bits and pieces for over 3700,- Euros at the Maserati dealer (invoices included).

With a fully closed service history and only 71.000 kilometers this is probably one of the better spec 3200’s on the market today against a very fair price. Of course all books, stamps of Maserati services, various invoices and keys (including the red key & code card) are included. This 3200 GT is proven matching numbers (pictures engine # included)
